Poison Ivy

Deciduous shrub; climbing plant.
Accidental poisonings are common where plant grows freely in North America.


Physical and mental restlessness. Cannot get comfortable in any position. Anxiety in bed at night; nervous restlessness. Very sensitive to cold and damp.

No. 1 remedy for SPRAINS and STRAINS. Use after Arnica. Stiffness and pain: WORSE for first movement; BETTER for continued movement, but WORSE again if over-exerted. BETTER for hot baths and warmth. Compare with Bryonia (worse for movement).

STIFF NECK from draughts and getting chilled.

BELL'S PALSY: paralysis on one side of the face, with numbness. Compare with Causticum. Right sided.

ARTHRITIS and RHEUMATISM: worse for first movement; worse for cold and damp weather; better for gentle motion; worse for over-exertion; better for heat.

FLU: pains in bones, joints, legs; aching, shooting, sore, bruised; worse at night; restless; worse for damp. Compare with Gels., Bryonia.

CHICKEN POX: great itching; restlessness; red-tipped tongue; aching joints. Compare with Pulsatilla, Ant. tart.

MUMPS: main remedy; hard, swollen glands; left-sided; tongue coated white with sore red tip. (Also Pulsatilla.) Compare with Phytolacca, Jaborandi Mercurius, Apis.

SHINGLES: burning, painful, following nerve pathway; blisters.

HERPES: burning, tingling, painful vesicular eruptions. Compare with Nat. Mur.

HAND FOOT & MOUTH: main remedy for blisters on tongue, hands, feet. (Mild illness chiefly affecting children. Child may go off food for a few days.)

Use in 6c or 30c potency every 2-3 hours for 6 doses.
